Story of the wine:
This is an unusual wine for Piemonte in that most Moscato goes into making Moscato d’Asti or Asti; however, it is nonetheless a traditional style, albeit not extensively used. It is, in essence, a late harvested wine when the grapes are picked as late as early November, so there is always a certain risk of the weather turning against the vintner.
However, the vineyards chosen are characterised by their low rainfall and good exposure to the sun.
Grapes: 100% Moscato Bianco
Area: From vineyards in communes of Calamandrano and Sessane both near Asti.
This is a full blooded dessert wine from the Moscato grape which is harvested late so as to achieve optimum ripeness. It is then aged in oak casks to give it extra depth. An intense floral sweetness and certain richness is nicely balanced by a crispness on the finish.
