Story of the wine:
Yarra valley north east of Melbourne in the state of Victoria is one of Australia’s oldest wine producing areas starting in 1838 and Pinot Noir is now the main variety grown in the valley. The winery is situated in the Warramate foothills and its name, Soumah, is a contraction of its location which is south of the Maroondah Highway and the name of the wine refers to the vineyards south of the Skye Rd. To ensure a complex wine Soumah uses 3 different clones of Pinot Noir each with slightly different characteristics. A part of the vintage, usually about 10%, is crushed by foot, including those of employee’s children!
Grape(s): 100% Pinot Noir
Area: From a single vineyard within the Soumah Estate
The Yarra valley, near Melbourne, has a climate that is particularly suited to the Pinot Noir grape as this wine amply illustrates. A distinctive, perfumed nose with a touch of classic Pinot Noir strawberry. A well balanced, elegant wine.
