Story of the wine:
Red Bordeaux is the classic wine and has long connections with the UK market going back to the Middle Ages when England ruled the area. The Chateau Vermont estate is near the town of Targon in the northen part of the Entre deux Mers district of Bordeaux, which is now producing many excellent value for money reds, as well as the white wines it is better known for. Vermont goes back to the 19th century and in 1986 it was bought by the current owner’s parents and the 22 ha. of vineyards were extensively re-planted.
Grape(s): 80% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc 5% Petit Verdot
Area: From the estate south of Targon in the north of Entre deux
The classic claret from an old estate in Entre deux Mers one of the Bordeaux’s best value for money districts. Lovely herby, grassy nose so redolent of Bordeaux’s wines and a rounded, elegant flavour on the palate and a dry finish.
