Story of the wine:
Vermentino di Gallura is produced in the Sardinia’s Gallura region in the island’s north west corner, which is also home of the island’s cork industry. The name is Sardinian dialect for high ground and the soil is mainly granite. The Cantine Sociale di Gallura is a co-operative founded in the early years of the 20th century and has access to 325ha of vines via their 160 members. It is based in Tempio Pausania in the middle of Gallura’s hills, only 20-30 miles from the coast The Vermentino grape is Sardegna’s most important white grape, but it is also to be found in southern France, Corsica and Liguria, the Italian Riviera. Vermentino di Gallura is Sadegna’s only DOCG wine and was designated in 1996.

This is top of the tree Sardinian Vermentino with a bit extra. A fresh crisp nose with a distinctive touch of tinned pineapple. On the palate it has a honeyed tone and a long, balanced finish.
